The Berylune Blog

We like shelves. (Also some Friday Finds)
Little sets of shelves are ace. You can fill them with your favourite bits and pieces. Mine have Gregory Peck on them, a marble, a doll from Retrouve, a caravan, a highland cow, an alabaster bird, a plate with a donkey on it, a wooden bird Amy bought me for my Birthday, a pretty felt doll that Zoë made for me, a Christmas present from Paul (those nesting owls are amazing, aren't they?), an old...
Friday Finds
I found this cutie in a charity shop. And would you believe it was reduced for a speedy sale? How did it not sell at full price? Or am I just odd for liking this stuff?

Last week, I found a Thumper to go with my Flower. This week, Zoë found me a Bambi as well! Zoë rocks.

Zoë & I love kitsch ceramic animals with big doe eyes. We have an excellent selection in the shop at the moment. Amy is enduring them rather well.

We have our Mum to thank for our finds this week! And they're pretty fabulous:

So much so that the jug is coming home with me, sorry.

I've been complaining recently that I don't have any vases. This week I managed to score three!

And they look great next to my birthday Donkey from Pauly.

Friday Finds
We've been collecting bits of stationery this week, which in my less-than-humble-opinion is the best sort of collecting one can do.

A perpetual calendar, an enormous bulldog clip and a teeny hole punch.
Not to be confused with my mass-hive hole punch.

This week's Friday Find is a beautiful Tower scale with built in timer. It works a treat. And this metric malarkey will never catch on you know.

Friday Finds
If, like myself, you have a younger sibling or even two or three, you will probably find yourself missing a good deal of your childhood memorabilia. My Ladybird books, along with other classics like 'The Cat in the Hat', my original 1980s My Little Ponies and my magic Family Tree House, were handed down to Amy. I don't remember being asked if this was ok. I presume I didn't care much for them at...
Friday Finds
This week's Friday Find is already sold. Sorry. I guess someone is getting a treat for Christmas!

Amy and I have both had an exhausting day, although we weren't together. Christmas landed in the shop, with lots of sales and a delivery of Christmas decorations, so Amy was rushed off her feet. I spent the day with the lovely, talented Fiona, shifting furniture, hammering things in to walls and...
Friday Finds - You can't fight the kitsch.
As you might be aware by now, I am a sucker for all things kitsch. If it has doe eyes, thick eyelashes and some sort of bow round it's neck, I'm usually all over it. Amy is less of a fan (remember the Horse Head Book Ends?), but I think she's finally coming round. Ever since we met Zoë, who is also a bit of a kitsch-lover, Amy has started to see the light. Or she has just given up fighting it.

Friday Finds
Our find this week lives on top of our till, guarding our pot plant. Or at least he will until some kind soul falls in love with him and gives him a new home...

ahhh...

Don't forget Book Club on Wednesday is Pride and Prejudice! Zoë and I watched the whole BBC mini series this afternoon in preparation... Laura pointed out we should perhaps have a field trip to see this.

Friday Finds
This week's Friday Find was really tough to pick. We've had various new things in this week, from a 1930s Gymnastics set (with trapeze, hoops and a swing!) to a bright green angle-poise lamp (which never made it to the shop, as I've requisitioned it for my craft room!) and many peculiar things in between.

We settled on this though, because we don't think it's ever been used. Back in the days when...
Friday Finds
This is the Friday Find I forgot to photograph last week! I love this colour. I think it's pistachio, but I only scored 8 on this stupid thing, so you tell me!

Pistachio typewriter, now for sale in our shop.

We've been trashing the shop! We have taken shelves down and put shelves up and built flatpack and hung wallpaper and painted bits and all sorts of interesting things. Thank you Paul and...
Friday Finds
These little chaps are feeling a bit sorry for themselves. Both of their heads have been broken clean off and glued back on. Also, the one on the left is missing a bit of scenery and has had an ear that has been badly glued back on.

We don't care though. Amongst stiff competition, they have won the honored position of Friday Find because we LOVE them. Also, we've tied bows round their necks to...
Friday Finds
This week's Friday find is a bit late, sorry! Yesterday, we celebrated Zoë's birthday. We had a lovely time showering her with gifts, drinking champagne and eating delicious food from Kayal (our second visit in as many weeks!). Zoë got me drunk, but really I think it was Amy's fault for not turning up early enough to help with the champagne.

This pretty Midwinter conserve pot was found by Zoë, and...
Friday Finds
Zoë & I were out searching for goodies the other day when we spied this pretty little tin. Imagine our glee when we found it to be full of buttons! Buttons, buttons, buttons. Nothing makes our pulses face faster than finding a hidden button treasure. Joy.

The tin will be made in to one of our 'Vintage Tin Sewing Kits'. The buttons will be added to our growing stash which, once we have finished...
Friday Finds
This week's Friday Find was something of a joint effort. Fiona & I followed our noses to a car boot we have not been to before, and came across this lovely 1960s kitchen timer, in its original box!

I actually got a red one as well; the blue one is definitely for sale, but I'm not convinced I can part with the red one yet.. I wonder why the lady had two? Maybe they were an unwanted wedding present.

Friday Finds and Wooly Lamp Shades
I got a bit spangly this week. Because, you know, spangly stuff rocks. So here are my Friday Finds:

Look at all the pretties

Charlottehas been knitting lamp shade covers recently. We love them, I have one of the trial runs by my bed. This one is my favourite colour, but we have olive green and neutrals also in stock, in a variety of patterns. Charlotte might also be convinced to knit one in a...
