The Berylune Blog

I had a day off today
It's been sweeping through my circle of friends like an easily transmitted disease. Roisin was heavily afflicted when I first met her and symptoms were apparent and obvious. Zoëwas a carrier, but recently the symptoms have started to become more pronounced. Then it took Amy. She seemed to be weathering it well, until last Christmas, when she gave up fighting it altogether (I feel a bit bad about...
Friday Finds - You can't fight the kitsch.
As you might be aware by now, I am a sucker for all things kitsch. If it has doe eyes, thick eyelashes and some sort of bow round it's neck, I'm usually all over it. Amy is less of a fan (remember the Horse Head Book Ends?), but I think she's finally coming round. Ever since we met Zoë, who is also a bit of a kitsch-lover, Amy has started to see the light. Or she has just given up fighting it.

I...
Changes afoot
I totally forgot it was Friday on Friday, so Friday Finds didn't happen this week I'm sorry. Which is a shame, because we found some beautiful new retro bits, but they'll have to wait until next week now.

We've been preparing for the C-Word around here. Amy and Zoë have been busily making and planning. I've been carding up new wooden brooches - this one is my favourite:

'Hey, I'm walkin' here'

We've...
Back to School
Back to school! Shiny new shoes, blazers that are a bit too big, hair brushed neat and tidy. Time to learn new things and make new friends. If, like us, you're a bit old for school, maybe you could try one of our new workshops?

A Day with Dolly Clackett - Introduction to Dressmaking

Spend a day with Roisin Muldoon (aka Dolly Clackett), who will talk you through the basics of dressmaking. Bring along...
Why can't every weekend be a bank holiday?
I've had a fun few days!

On Wednesday night, Fiona taught a fabulous workshop on Styling your Crafts. Zoë attended along with 5 other lovely crafty & creative people, wanting to learn more about photographing their products to sell online. Everyone had such lovely goodies to photograph! Liz, our friendly neighbourhood vintage ice cream van driver, also came along to learn a bit about photographing...
Friday Finds and Wooly Lamp Shades
I got a bit spangly this week. Because, you know, spangly stuff rocks. So here are my Friday Finds:

Look at all the pretties

Charlottehas been knitting lamp shade covers recently. We love them, I have one of the trial runs by my bed. This one is my favourite colour, but we have olive green and neutrals also in stock, in a variety of patterns. Charlotte might also be convinced to knit one in a...
Friday Finds
I've been at Denise's Hens' do this evening. We had great fun, I got to turn Charlotte in to a swan with toilet paper.

This week's Friday find is from Zoë - she found these gorgeous Rosti Danish egg cups, which are now for sale in the shop:

They're really tactile and stack beautifully.

It's been a bit manic.

The last few weeks have whizzed by. We were insanely busy getting the Etsy Craft Party sorted. Then I had to get my VAT return done (I hate it, but at least it means I'm never more than 3 months behind on accounts work...). Things started to return to normal last week. We had a lovely knit & natter on Thursday with three new faces. Then Saturday came, and with it back to back workshops, with...
Washi Wednesday
I spent this afternoon making something cool for Washi Wednesday, really I did. It involved a craft knife and a cutting mat. I mounted something on a wall, cleaned something, found some pretty things (and pretty boys) to go with it. I grabbed my camera, got it in focus and pressed the button. Only to find my memory card is still at the shop. I'm sorry Washi lovers, I just couldn't be bothered to...
A day out in the sun
The other day a few of us decided to enjoy a day out in the sun, so headed to Snowshill Manor. We romped around the Cotswolds for a few hours, gasping and drooling over three rooms full of spinning wheels...
A couple of finished projects
We've all been quite productive at Knit & Natter lately. There are a few projects nearly complete, my larksfoot blanket is almost done. I've been stalling it's completion as I don't have another project lined up yet... Maybe I'll try a bit of knitting again. Maybe.
