Recycled crushed, washed and dried whelk shells, perfect for use in plant pots, terrariums, gardens and landscaping. Any organic discards are converted into green energy, meaning Shell On Earth use 100% of this natural resource.
Each bag contains approx 1.5kg of crushed Whelk Shells. Choose from 'Original' and 'Super Crush'.
Original is a perfect top dressing for indoor plant pots. Great for Cacti, succulents and most house plants. You can also mix the shells into soil or compost to increase drainage.
Choose Super Crush if you would prefer the shells to be finer ground; great for tiny pots and terrariums.
The whelks are caught in the UK using traditional pots, a low impact method of fishing which means minimal damage to the sea floor and marine habitats.
This product was made with a commitment to sustainability and support for the fishermen and fishing authorities.
PROCESS: Once cooked, the meat and shells are separated. The shells are taken to a dedicated area of the factory where they are crushed and cleaned a further three times. They are then taken to the drying room to remove any moisture. Finally, each bag is individually packaged and hand-tied.
