This little illustrated introduction to stone lithography was designed by Bernard Cheese, one of the finest lithographers of his generation, and arose from trying to describe lithography in words (very hard). It is accompanied here by examples of markmaking by Hilary Stebbing, who attended The Central in the 1930s and lithographed some of the most stunning children's books of the mid-20th Century.
