'Meet the Wren – Write Off: the infinitely refillable pen that gives disposable pens another life. An estimated 9 billion disposable pens are thrown away globally each year. It’s a staggering number. Having spent years creating pens designed to be reused for a lifetime, I couldn't help but feel for these poor little pens – destined to be buried for millennia. It was time to close the loop – to find a way to repurpose them and give them a brand-new life.
Enter the Wren – Write Off, my boldest project to date. Over the past year, we've been working with schools and organisations to intercept stationery waste at the source, preventing it from reaching landfill. This precious plastic is then meticulously separated and sorted to create the wonderful colours you see before you.
Crafted in collaboration with the brilliant Brothers Make, each lid is made by chipping, injection-moulding and hand-finishing the reclaimed plastic – a process that’s more artisan than assembly line. This unique method means every lid is completely one-of-a-kind.
This isn’t just a pen – it’s a small act of rebellion against waste, and a celebration of creativity.'
