This beautiful archive print depicts Sweet William flowers in their natural habitat. Symbolising love, grace, bravery, and admiration, these flowers are also known in French as Les oeillets de poète (Poet’s Carnations). The term "oeillet," or "eye," refers to the contrasting colour of the flower's center, with some suggesting the name honours Saint William or William Shakespeare.

Sweet William flowers are not only edible but also abundant in nectar, attracting birds, bees, and butterflies.

Originally created in 1927, this artwork uses nine intricately interlocked woodblock plates to showcase a vibrant celebration of nature. Print~Sisters have lovingly reproduced this design using fine digital printing on eco-fibre paper.
